چکیده

We present a novel geometric calibration technique for scalable multi-projector displays. Geometric calibration plays an important role in the alignment of multi-projector systems to present a seamless tiling of the multiple projector displays. Multi-frequency Phase Measuring Profilometry technique for the geometric calibration is proposed in this work. The required framework for implementing the technique is already part of the scalable displays using camera for optical feedback. Instead of performing feature matching or corner detection to estimate the projector-camera homography, the proposed technique has projector-camera correspondence for each pixel in the camera space with sub-pixel accuracy. Structured light illumination is widely used in 3D depth acquisition. The proposed method can be further extended to scan any 3D display surface and use the calibration matrices to map visualization data using the multi-projector display.

TYLER M. JOHNSON: A Cooperative Approach to Continuous Calibration in Multi-Projector Displays (Under the direction of Henry Fuchs) Projection-based displays are often used to create large, immersive environments for virtual reality (VR), simulation, and training. These displays have become increasingly widespread due to the decreasing cost of projectors and advances in calibration and renderin...

Calibrating Scalable Multi-Projector Displays Using Camera Homography Trees

We present a practical vision-based calibration system for large format multi-projector displays. A spanning tree of homographies, automatically constructed from several camera images, accurately registers arbitrarily-mounted projectors to a global reference frame. Experiments on the 18’×8’ Princeton Display Wall (a 24 projector array with 6000×3000 resolution) demonstrate that our algorithm ac...

Automatic geometric calibration of projector-based light field displays

We present a novel calibration method for continuous multiview (light field) projection-based displays using a single uncalibrated camera and four fiducial markers. Calibration starts from a simple parametric description of the display layout. First, individual projectors are calibrated through parametric optimization of an idealized pinhole model. Then, the overall display and projector parame...

Scalable Multi-view Registration for Multi-Projector Displays on Vertically Extruded Surfaces

Recent work have shown that it is possible to register multiple projectors on non-planar surfaces using a single uncalibrated camera instead of a calibrated stereo pair when dealing with a special class of non-planar surfaces, vertically extruded surfaces. However, this requires the camera view to contain the entire display surface. This is often an impossible scenario for large displays, espec...

Shadow Removal from Multi-Projector Displays via Three-Dimensional Modeling and Object Tracking

When a person stands between a projector and a display surface a shadow occurs. We show a method to perform shadow removal using camera-based object tracking and a three-dimensional model of a room, which includes cameras, projectors, and flat surfaces. For tracking people, although we use cameras, other methods would work. To obtain the model, we adapted and use existing geometric calibration ...
